When you're choosing a school, especially a newer program, you want proof that it meets real standards. St. Peter Christian School holds both national and state accreditation, a distinction that few schools in our area can claim. Here's what that means for your family.
National Lutheran School Accreditation (NLSA)
NLSA is the accrediting body for Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod schools across the United States and has been setting standards for Christian education since 1987. To earn NLSA accreditation, a school must complete a rigorous self-study across seven standard areas, meet all 30 required indicators of quality, and pass a formal two-day on-site validation visit by a team of trained evaluators who observe classrooms, interview stakeholders, and verify that the school's self-assessment is accurate.
St. Peter Christian School earned NLSA accreditation in September 2025, with certification through August 2030. We submit annual progress reports and will complete a full renewal process at the end of the five-year cycle. This isn't a one-time credential. It's an ongoing commitment to improvement.
Lutheran School Accreditation Commission (LSAC)
LSAC is the state-level accrediting body for Lutheran schools in Texas and a recognized member of the Texas Private School Accreditation Commission (TEPSAC). TEPSAC accreditation is recognized by the Texas Commissioner of Education, which means student credits earned at St. Peter transfer to Texas public schools. LSAC accreditation also qualifies St. Peter to participate in the Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA) program.
What Dual Accreditation Means for Your Family
- Verified quality. Our academics, spiritual formation, faculty qualifications, and school operations have been independently evaluated and approved at both the state and national level.
- Ongoing accountability. Accreditation requires annual reporting and continuous improvement, not just a one-time review.
- Recognized by the State of Texas. LSAC accreditation through TEPSAC ensures your child's academic credits are recognized statewide.
- TEFA eligibility. Our accreditation status qualifies St. Peter to accept Texas Education Freedom Accounts, worth up to $10,474 per student annually.
- Part of a national network. NLSA accredits over 2,000 schools nationwide, making St. Peter part of the second-largest Protestant school system in the country.
Herzog Foundation Sponsored School
St. Peter is a sponsored school of the Stanley M. Herzog Foundation, a national organization dedicated to catalyzing quality Christ-centered K-12 education. The Herzog Foundation provides training, resources, and support to Christian schools across the country. This sponsorship reflects St. Peter's commitment to long-term excellence and signals that our school has been identified as part of a growing national movement in Christian education.
